- Pediatric Surgery Research Fellow
Description
The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital / Saint Louis University is seeking a General Surgery resident or recent graduate for a fulltime Pediatric Surgery Research Fellowship, available immediately.
The fellow’s primary clinical responsibility is to provide inhouse call coverage for the pediatric surgery service. This includes evaluating overnight consults such as trauma activations, Emergency Department consults, and inpatient consults. The fellow will also assist in operative cases occurring overnight under the direct supervision of the attending pediatric surgeon.
The research component includes participation in ongoing clinical and outcomesbased projects within the division. The fellow will have access to national datasets including NTDB and NSQIPPediatric, as well as robust institutional databases. Dedicated support from a biostatistics team is available for study design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
This is a paid position and offers strong academic mentorship, opportunities for national presentations, and excellent preparation for individuals pursuing a career in pediatric surgery.
Requirements
- Completion of at least two years in an ACGME accredited General Surgery residency program, or recent graduation from an accredited General Surgery program
- Good standing within current or prior residency program
- Ability to participate in inhouse call and manage overnight consults
- Demonstrated interest in pediatric surgery and academic research
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Eligibility for institutional onboarding requirements (credentialing, background check, immunizations, etc.)
